Pesticide Safety - Understanding Labels

Developed by Mark Henderson, Frank Zalom, Mark Bell, and Pat Thompson - International Programs Office UC Davis (2009) "What are Pesticide Labels? All pesticides come with important information on the containers or bags in the form of a label. If your pesticide supplier did not include the complete pesticide label ask for a copy. The information is absolutely necessary to read before spraying. In the case of pesticide related emergencies, the label will provide valuable information to physicians and first aid instructions. What you will find on the pesticide label Brand name/Trade name – A name given exclusively by a manufacturer for a pesticide product. Note that some pesticides have several brand names even though it is the same chemical. Because of this, you should not rely on trade names for identification. "
